Paratransit was created to provide alongside service to transport individuals that are not able to use public transportation. However, the current paratransit reservation process has not been updated since its inception, and in turn does not efficiently accommodate people with disabilities.  Users still have to phone the transit agency to book an advanced reservation with a customer service representative where, limited booking hours are coupled with long hold times.  The paratransit reservation has left the user side behind in the 20th century.

MT4D uses current technology to update the paratransit reservation process through the use of a mobile app.  Our app will allow the user to reserve, change or cancel transportation when it’s convenient for them; it will send a reminder of the reserved transportation; and users will have the ability to save their “favorite” destinations in their personal membership file.  Our app will also have the capability of tracking the driver as they near the destination.

MT4D is unique in that it promotes equality for all users of CT public transit.  Our app specifically addresses the transportation needs of individuals with disabilities in Connecticut.  It is our intention to give users an easier way to book, change and cancel a reservation so that they can tend to what’s really important - things such as getting to work, going to the doctor, attending religious services, and spending time with friends.
